The Annual Bea Gaddy Day

Since October, 2001, the Office of Baltimore City Council President Sheila Dixon, sponsors Bea Gaddy Day. This year, the kick-off for Bea Gaddy Day was held at Mondawmin Mall. Bea Gaddy Day could be read on t-shirts worn by the attendees.

When we think of Bea Gaddy, we recall her preparations of Thanksgiving Day dinners. Each year, she fed thousands of homeless people.

Michael Farrier displays a brochure about the cancer screening program while Rhett Snead and Lawrence A. Kemp answer questions.

Tara Green and Michele Brown, both Assistants to the Senator, Barbara Mikulski, were among the many that attended.

Some of the Bea Gaddy Day activities included free screenings for diabetes, blood pressure checks, pregnancy tests and cholesterol checks. Visitors were offered an opportunity to schedule appointments for free mammograms, pap smears and prostate screenings at local hospitals.

Terry T. Brown and Stanza Underwood represent the Baltimore Behavioral Health Care Center.

These three characters amused adults as well as the kids.

Tribute was paid to Bea Gaddy through the donation of non-perishable food (canned goods, boxes, bags, etc.) to one of 130 collection sites throughout Baltimore City.
