Books Opens At Security Mall

Two
months ago, Karibu
Books opened
its doors in
Security Square Mall. Karibu Books is an independent
bookstore that celebrates Black history by marketing
books by and about people of African descent.
"Our
mission is to create a financially viable African
American owned and operated cultural institution,"
stated Simba Sana. Simba Sana, one of the owners of
Karibu Books and his partner, Yao Ahoto initially
sold books as vendors, however pursued their business
dream of owning bookstores.
You
may have shopped at one of the other Karibu
bookstores. The Security Square Mall location is the
sixth store. Karibu bookstores are now located
in Prince Georges County, Baltimore County and Arlington,
Virginia.

Upon
entering Karibu Books, you can't help but browse
the displayed books. Literature sold includes fiction,
non-fiction, children's books, magazines and comics.
Music, calendars and related merchandise are also
sold.
Karibu
Books
sponsors, book-signings and other special literary
events. FREE Writer's Workshops, presented by the
Black Writer's Guild of Prince George's County,
are held on the second Saturday of each month at the
Bowie Town Center. (Check Baltimore Knows' event listings
